Young TV stars...
David Green, who has been a student at DADA for many years now, has been seen on your TV screens playing the part of Tommy in the TV series ROY, which won the RTS award for Best Children's Drama 2009. ROY follows the life of a young animated character from Dublin and David plays the role of one of Roy's best friends. ROY has been broadcast on CBBC, BBC1 and RTE2. No stranger to professional acting, he has acted in TV commercials, in radio plays for RTE and in short films. At DADA, he most recently played the role of Peter Pan in this year's production, David has also played the roles of the white rabbit in Wonder In Aliceland, DuBois in The Misanthrope and Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Congratulations, David.
Another of our talented young students, Isabelle Geraghty, who played the part of Alice in our production of Wonder In Aliceland at the Civic Theatre can be seen acting in a leading role in the TV3 drama School Run. Isabelle has been taking drama lessons for many years and is a natural in front of the camera. School Run tells the story of what happens when a group of children and their parents try to raise money for their Gaelscoil. Well done, Isabelle!
DADA operates an agency for students of the school who are interested in auditioning for professional work.
Membership of the agency is optional as not everyone who takes a drama or dance class will want to work professionally in the business. However, if you are interested in joining the agency, you can fill in an Agency Membership Form which can be obtained from your tutor. This form should be filled out accurately and returned with a good quality recent photograph (head and shoulders preferably).
If you would like to have a professional headshot taken, you can contact the office and we can arrange it for you. We would recommend this for older students. Membership of the agency is free of charge. Previously, DADA students have performed in places such as The Abbey Theatre, The Olympia Theatre, Liberty Hall Theatre, in R.T.E. and on several short films. The Agency is currently being expanded and we hope to be taking on lots more professional work for our students in the future.
